“Thank you Shari (and Sandy)!
Thanks to your determination and hard work, Thunder and I are now much safer and happier together.
Thunder is huge, basically lazy and can be very stubborn. He has taken advantage of my weak training skills, but I see a good horse inside that challenging exterior and look forward to him being my riding partner for years to come. Shari has been working with both of us for a couple of months now and the transformation is fabulous. She is giving me the tools to work on adjusting his attitude, which has really boosted my confidence. Her communication skills are excellent. What has really helped me is her technique of showing me her methods and then training me to use them.
It is my good fortune to live nearby so we have lessons and trail rides on an “as needed” basis. Her facility allows horse and rider to experience trail-like obstacles in a controlled environment. When you are ready to advance to the real world it is a short walk to the forest.
If you are serious about improving yourself and your horse, Shari is your answer. Her years of experience and knowledge are priceless. Fixing horses and riders is her specialty and her heart is really in it. She really LOVES doing what she is doing, which shines through. Happy Trails…” ~ Susanna Klosterman and Thunder
“We have two Tennesse Walking Horses, each with very different personalities and backgrounds. We stayed at her ranch for what I call “immersion training” for John, myself, and the horses. (Her Chicken Coop cottage is rustic and fabulous!). Shari worked tirelessly with both the horses and us to achieve our goals. Morning and afternoon, with plenty of incidental learning that comes just from being around Shari. Not to mention good conversation and fun, and very reasonable rates. Rosie was pinning her ears and approaching us, and was on track for running us over and biting us. John couldn’t get her to lunge, and was afraid to ride her. By the end of our immersion vacation John was riding Rosie out on trails, very confident, grinning. We continue to work with her using techniques Shari taught us and Rosie continues to make incredible progress. We were on the verge of getting rid of her, and thanks to Shari she is a wonderful trail horse now, much happier, with very happy owners. With Dulce, our other horse, we worked on her fear of and refusal to step into mud or muddy water, and also extreme barn sourness. Shari and Sandy worked directly with Dulce on the mud issue, with success. I learned the sending techniques in one of Shari’s Obstacle Trail Workshops, and am now able to get Dulce to cross muddy trail sections from the saddle. I gained the confidence and skills to work on the barn sourness, and we have made incredible progress. I’m no longer afraid of her and can deal effectively when she displays this behavior, as well as continue to use training to prevent it from occuring. Working with Shari has been an invaluable experience, and we continue to consult her and look forward to visiting her often at her ranch in Sisters.” ~ Jana and John Swedo
“I so appreciate everything you taught both me and Bailey and I can’t wait to come back again and bring friends! It’s an aweful feeling when you are afraid to enjoy your horse partner out on the trail and I was at that point when I brought her to you. The techniques you showed me, and the ground work you did with Bailey was invaluable. After only two days working with you, I was able to take my “girl” out on the trail and apply what we learned and it worked! Each and every time gets better! Thank you so much for giving us both the confidence boost we needed!” ~Marlene & Bailey Mae
”I was having a increasingly horrible time with my 7 year old TWH mare. She’s a great riding horse, but her ground manners were disintergrating to downright unmanageable to an extent that I didn’t even want to try to groom her out to ride her. I met Shari at her Rolling M Ranch and we discussed my nasty mare. Shari said it sounded like it was a matter of “disrespected” (my mare towards me). I admitted I was somewhat of a chicken when it came to controlling her on the ground. I was letting the mare control me instead of the other way around.
I signed up for a two-day “intensive” session with Shari, my mare and me, for essentially an “attitude adjustment” all the way around. My mare was nasty and stubborn, but within a very short time, she became a “nice girl” and I learned how to control her with some very basic, easy to learn techniques. My mare changed from nasty to nice in ONE session. And, I was changed too because I learned that I can perform just a few basic moves on my part to gain my mare’s respect.
Anyone who has any kind of problem with their horse should contact Shari for an evaluation. Shari knows gentle, easy to perform techniques anyone can learn to do/ I was ready to give up on this mare and get rid of her. Now, she and I are a working team, and I’m the one in control.” ~ Besty
